Tastemaker label Black Acre returns with new signing

Tastemaker label Black Acre has returned with a new signing – electronic/rock act Scaler.

The Bristol-based label, which has partnered with Believe on distribution, is home to Commodo, Sully, Karen Nyame KG, Waldo’s Gift, Crimewave, and more.

Scaler have released the single Broken Entry, their first new music since 2023’s Daniel Avery-produced Double A-side single Loam and New Symbols.

Ian Merchant, label co-founder, said: "Is there a better way to announce our return to making records than signing our favourite Bristol band? Scaler have been part of our lives as fans for years so it's an honour to welcome them to the Black Acre family.”

Lilian Lyzander, label manager, said: “The band has always defied genre but the new album ups the ante with sheer ambition and we are hyped to work on a project with no ceiling."

Since 2007, Black Acre has supported the underground scene in the UK and beyond, including N-type, Raffertie and DJ Hatcha in dubstep, as well as acts such as Clap! Clap!,  Brokenchord, Kwesi Darko, Crimewave, Connie Constance and Rocks FOE.
