As Plugged In reports a year of further growth, the music promotions agency has made key appointments across the business.
Recent hires span all three departments of the company, which includes radio, publicity and social & digital.
Ellie Bacon is the newly appointed senior campaign manager for the social & digital department. She has production experience across TV and music, having formerly managed socials at BBC Radio 1.
Plugged In has also appointed Olivia Neil-Trenchfield as national radio & TV plugger, joining the team from Sony Music where she was a promotions manager.
The third appointment is Meg Atkinson, who joins the publicity team as publicist, following PR roles at Toast Press and Domino Recording Company, and earlier with promotions company DHP.
Plugged In’s continued expansion follows the launch of two new divisions in early 2024 – having appointed Linzi Symons as director of social media strategy and Alice Mortimer as head of publicity. In a statement, the agency said both departments soon “gained momentum alongside the company’s long-established reputation in radio plugging, helping to develop Plugged In into a truly full-service music promotion partner”.
Founded by James Passmore in 2007, Plugged In represents acts including Haim, Little Simz, Headie One, Mabel, Rose Gray, Phoebe Bridgers, Wizkid, Tems, Rina Sawayama and many more.
Their services span national radio, European radio, press (print & online), podcasts & new media, TV, social media strategy, digital & audience.
On the company’s growth, founder and CEO James Passmore said: “The past two years at Plugged In have easily been the most exciting since I started the company in 2007. Bucking the industry trend, we have more than doubled the size of our team, and in the process increased our offering to become a full-service promotions agency, and achieved all of this while maintaining our independence.
“Plugged In has always built its success on the strength of its team. This expansion has been led by identifying outstanding individuals we feel can bring something special to the company, creating roles as opposed to filling them. This is certainly the case when it comes to Ellie, Olivia and Meg, who all bring distinct experience and skills which are helping us shape our unique service offering. I’m delighted that they have joined my exceptional team.”

He added: “We’re definitely not done yet, and have ambitions to add marketing, DSP pitching/strategy, brand partnerships and artist management in the coming years, as well as continuing to grow the size and reach of our newer departments. We’re always looking for the next brilliant addition to the team – so if you think you’d be a good fit then please do not hesitate to get in touch.”
Ellie Bacon has joined the social & digital department as it enters its third year.
Division director Linzi Symons said: “I’m thrilled to have Ellie join my social and digital department at Plugged In – her creativity, eye for detail and genuine passion for artists, music and world building is top tier.”
“We’ve had a fantastic first two years for our social & digital department at Plugged In, partnering with artists we love and their teams to elevate campaigns across a diverse talent roster including Rose Gray, Tom Grennan, Joy Crookes, HAAi, Moonchild Sanelly and Elton John to name a few.
“We’ve seen some incredible results in community growth, engagement and have contributed to key successes in our artists careers, such as No.1 albums and BRIT Award nominations. I’m looking forward to Ellie playing a key role in taking the department to the next stage as we enter our third year.”
Ellie Bacon said: "With 12 years of production experience in social and digital, TV and music, two of those years managing BBC Radio 1 socials, I am so excited to join Plugged In and to add another layer of knowledge, fun and creative flair to the team. The digital and social landscape is the beating heart and direct link for artists and their fanbase as well as a playground of creativity, personality and music discovery.
“To be working directly with artists and their teams to grow and expand their audiences is something I feel so passionate and excited about and ready to take them to the next level of success."
The company has been shortlisted for a Music Week Award in the Promotions Team category for the past eight consecutive years.
