Spotify Singles programme surpasses 10 billion streams

Spotify has announced that its Spotify Singles programme has collectively hit over 10 billion streams.

The programme is Spotify’s longest-running original recorded music franchise and has hosted more than 750 artists across all genres – creating over 1,000 recordings from 45 countries across the world.

To commemorate the milestone, the streaming platform is officially opening up its studio in Stockholm, Sweden, to artists from all over Europe. The Stockholm Studio – first opened back in 2018 – has previously only hosted Nordic artists but will now help artists from all over Europe to expand their catalogues through the Singles programme

To mark the reopening, Damiano David from Måneskin recorded his first Spotify Single in Stockholm ahead of Valentine’s Day – covering Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus’ 2018 anthem Nothing Breaks Like A Heart. Since its debut, the cover of Nothing Breaks Like A Heart has also been included in more than 100 000 editorial and personalised editorial playlists on Spotify, further amplifying its reach.

The programme has been an outlet for hundreds of artists to express themselves, engage their fans with new music, and connect with new listeners around the world

The Stockholm Studio is also set to host a range of exciting artists and projects in 2025, including a Singles collection celebrating the Eurovision catalogue, the French Victoires de la Musique winner in the emerging female artist category and the Spanish singer-songwriter, Judeline, who was previously a Spotify Equal artist.

Bryan Johnson, international head of artist and industry partnerships at Spotify, said: “We are thrilled to have reached the 10 billion stream milestone for Spotify Singles. Since 2016, the programme has been an outlet for hundreds of artists to express themselves, engage their fans with new music, and connect with new listeners around the world.

"By opening up our award-winning Stockholm studio to artists, including emerging artists from all over Europe, we plan to enable even more beneficiaries of the programme, while encouraging new opportunities for creative collaboration.”

Federica Tremolada, general manager Europe at Spotify, said: “We're absolutely thrilled to announce the reopening of our Stockholm Studio, where it all began for us. This isn't just about having another recording space; it's a symbol of our dedication to the rich tapestry of creative diversity and the spirit of collaboration that thrives across Europe.

“We believe that these values are the engines of economic growth, social unity, and cultural exchange. By opening up our Stockholm studio to artists all over Europe – commemorating our 10 billion stream milestone – we're reaffirming Spotify's enduring commitment to nurturing talent from Europe and beyond, giving artists the power to make a living from their art and share it with the world."

Spotify’s Studio in Stockholm is officially open to artists across Europe from February 19.
