AI-powered rights admin platform Claimy raises €1.5 million in pre-seed funding

AI-powered rights administration platform Claimy has raised €1.5 million in pre-seed funding.

Already working with major European rights-holders and artists, Claimy is now live in France and the UK.

The Paris-based business has more than €6 million in rights under management, covering 160,000 music assets, written and performed by artists including David Guetta, Celine Dion, Aya Nakamura, Jul and many others.

Claimy uses technology that aims to help solve this problem of unallocated or misallocated music rights, leading to huge amounts of royalties affected by the data gap. There have also been legal disputes over allocation of so-called black box royalties by market share.

Claimy’s €1.5 million in pre-seed funding is from by music and tech figures including Jean-Baptiste Hironde (founder & CEO of MWM), Flavien Kulawik (music tech investor), Julien Codorniou (20VC, ex-Facebook) and others, in addition to public financing.

The latest funding will accelerate product development and allow the rights administration platform to expand into new markets and grow its team.

This fundraising will enable the business to expand into new markets, win new business and ultimately ensure vital royalty payments flow to those who own music catalogues and the creators they represent

Claimy was founded in September 2023 by Pierre-Alban Mulliez (CEO), along with co-founders Gustave Larrouturou and Guillaume de Lavenère.

Commenting on the investment, co-founder and CEO Pierre-Alban Mulliez said: “At a time when AI is depriving creators and rights-holders of their ownership, Claimy’s unique technology enables them to regain control over their rights. This fundraising will enable the business to expand into new markets, win new business and ultimately ensure vital royalty payments flow to those who own music catalogues and the creators they represent.”

For publishers, labels and rights-holders, the platform helps to identify missing revenues, recovering lost income through claims with clear proof of usage, and maximising the value of catalogues.

For artists and creators, Claimy said it provides transparency, with every music usage  properly tracked and compensated.

The start-up was built entirely in France and incubated both at Agoranov and the HEC Incubator at Station F. In addition the business has a strategic partnership with Telecom Paris’ Listen Lab.
