Carla Marie Williams

Carla Marie Williams MBE is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and the founder of Girls I Rate, the organisation championing women and pushing for gender equality across the creative industries. Throughout her career, she has penned songs for some of the biggest artists worldwide including Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Girls Aloud, Craig David – to name a few – and has worked as an A&R, producer and vocal producer. Carla has also been a guest judge on the X Factor, as well as presenting BBC World Service’s Music Life radio series. She won Music Week’s Women In Music Awards Campaigner trophy in 2021, and the same year began curating the Girls I Rate x Music Week Mentor Me page, which features the most influential and successful women across the music and creative industries every month as they share their top 5 career lessons. Leading industry figures and creatives including the likes of Kanya King, Nao, Kamille, Taponeswa Mavunga and YolanDa Brown have all starred in Mentor Me to date.
