James Hanley began his career as news editor of Audience/Live UK magazine in 2012 before moving to Music Week at the start of 2015. Since then, he has become a Music Week stalwart. A live music specialist, he has broken and written about countless music industry stories, including a special report on the Manchester Arena attack in 2017, chronicling the live industry through the Covid pandemic and many more.
