Official Charts launches Christian & gospel singles chart

Official Charts has launched the Official UK Christian & gospel singles chart, a new weekly rundown dedicated to showcasing homegrown single releases making an impact.

It marks the second new specialist chart launch of 2026 from the Official Charts Company, following the new discovery-focused Official classical chart earlier this month.

Developed in collaboration with AStepFWD – a UK-based Christian media and creative organisation committed to amplifying faith-driven voices in music, arts and culture –– the chart is designed to platform the modern homegrown faces of Christian & Gospel music and the genre’s latest releases.

The chart, compiled by the Official Charts Company, will specifically highlight Christian & gospel singles released by British artists within the last 12 months only, ranked by combined UK sales and streams.

Introduced in response to the continued growth of the genre in the UK market, its inception will be marked at a special launch event tonight (February 25) at The Premier Christian Media Centre in London’s Blackfriars.

Over the past decade, the UK has witnessed a rise in demand for faith-based music. According to Official Charts Company data, the UK Christian & gospel albums market has grown by 64% since 2015. MOBO recognises gospel acts at its annual awards.

In 2025, combined UK annual sales and streams of Christian & gospel albums crossed 500,000 units for the first time since the Official Charts Company began tracking the genre.

UK streams of Christian & gospel music have also increased seven-fold since 2015, with streaming now accounting for 93% of the genre’s consumption today, and up 9% year-on-year in 2025.

The genre’s biggest British album release of 2025 was Sault’s 11th studio album, Acts Of Faith.

The new chart will spotlight a broad spectrum of Christian and Gospel music, from contemporary worship and gospel choir releases to faith-based pop, rap, R&B, and inspirational recordings.

The first chart will be published at 5:45pm on Friday, March 6.
