UK singer-songwriter Myles Smith has made an impact on SoundExchange’s rankings for top tracks and new artists of the year.
The RCA-signed artist has topped the US-based neighbouring rights organisation’s Breakout Creators list for 2025.
Myles Smith was also ranked at No.2 with Stargazing on SoundExchange’s Top Tracks list for 2025. He is the only British act in the Top 10, although UK-signed Irish artist Hozier is at No.4 with Too Sweet.
Lola Young makes SoundExchange’s Top 20 with Messy – the No.2 song overall in the UK last year – at No.14. Young also makes the Breakout Creators list.
Lose Control by Teddy Swims emerged as the No.1 track of 2025 on SoundExchange’s rundown. He has a second entry in the Top 10 with Bad Dreams at No.6.
The data-based rankings are calculated according to significant activity on non-interactive streaming platforms including satellite radio. More than 3,600 digital service providers operate under statutory licences for which SoundExchange administrates, collects and distributes royalties to recording artists and rights-holders.
The Breakout Creators list is based on strong debuts or career highlight releases that connected with wider audiences.
“At the end of each year, SoundExchange digs through the data to understand which tracks received the most streams and which new artists are starting to break out,” said Michael Huppe, president and CEO of SoundExchange. “It’s obvious that this year brought some great music to the forefront, and we know that 2026 will bring even more.”
