The MPG Awards has honoured producers, engineers and studios at its 2025 edition.
The Music Producers Guild, in association with Dolby and Mix With The Masters, revealed the winners at a sold-out ceremony at The Troxy in East London.
AG Cook was named Producer Of The Year, in recognition of his ground-breaking work in electronic music with the likes of Charli XCX. Fellow Dux Content member Danny L Harle was awarded Writer-Producer Of The Year.
The MPG recently introduced two new categories, recognising the importance of different types of recording environments. The winners of these inaugural awards were Guy Chambers’ Sleeper Sounds, named Small Commercial Studio Of The Year, and Paul Epworth’s The Church Studios, which took home the title of Large Commercial Studio Of The Year.
Isabel Gracefield won Breakthrough Producer Of The Year and Animesh Raval took home Breakthrough Engineer Of The Year – presented by Fraser T Smith.
Album Of The Year went to Rachel Chinouriri's What A Devastating Turn Of Events.
Woody Cook presented his father, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) with the Outstanding Contribution To UK Music Award.
Paul Epworth received the MPG Icon Award, presented by artist and collaborator Baxter Dury, and MNEK was awarded Vocal Producer Of The Year.
The MPG Inspiration Award went to Richard Russell, while Peter Gabriel collected the MPG Pioneer Award.
The Special Recognition Award was presented to Lauren Laverne by Guy Garvey, in recognition of her cultural influence and support for UK artists.
Throughout the night, music industry stars hit out at the government’s plans to allow big tech firms to use their creative content to train their AI models for free. Stars such as Peter Gabriel and Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim held placards backing the Make It Fair: Don’t Let AI Steal Our Music campaign, which the MPG amended to include the slogan ‘Just Ask Us First.’ The MPG are demanding music creators be given a voice on the matter rather than just record labels.
Catherine Marks, executive director of the MPG, said: “The 2025 MPG Awards at The Troxy was a powerful reminder of the incredible talent and dedication that drives our industry at a pivotal time. From trailblazers to future stars, the night was a celebration of the people and studios behind the sound – those who continue to shape the future of music.”
