Ghetts has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
The UK rapper, real name Justin Clarke-Samuel, failed to stop when his BMW hit 20-year-old Nepali student Yubin Tamang at around 11.30pm in Ilford on October 18.
He also admitted to dangerous driving before and after the collision.
Using a videolink from HMP Pentonville, Ghetts appeared at the Old Bailey to enter the guilty pleas.
He has been held in custody since October and will be sentenced on February 12. Judge Mark Lucraft, KC, the Recorder of London, told the rapper he will face a custodial sentence.
Ghetts has been nominated twice for the Mercury Prize and was up for two awards at this year’s Ivors.
He earned multiple MOBO nominations this year and received the MOBO Pioneer award in 2024 for his "significant contribution to British Black culture".
He reached No.2 in 2021 with the Mercury-nominated Conflict Of Interest album.
