Award-winning songwriter, producer, activist and previous Music Week Women In Music Roll Of Honour inductee Eve Horne has launched Mother’s Write, a groundbreaking initiative funded by The Ivors Academy Trust which is designed to support, empower and elevate mothers across the music industry. Mother's Write offers participants a space to collaborate and create with songwriting sessions, access to professional development, networking opportunities and the ability to work in an inclusive, industry-level setting with childcare support.
March kicked off the first of the Mother's Write songwriting/production camps led by Horne, who has over 20 years of experience in the music industry as a singer, songwriter and producer, and as the founder of We Are The Unheard – a community interest company at the forefront of the industry advocating for underrepresented groups and individuals across the business and addressing the critical need for gender equity and diversity. The three-day camp brought together aspiring mother artists and producers, who were all paid industry-standard rates for their time.
Participants travelled from as far as Paris, and were able to engage in hands-on sessions and collaborative projects aimed at breaking barriers and elevating underrepresented voices in music.

The camp provided an opportunity for emerging talent to gain knowledge from industry professionals, participate in mentorship sessions, and develop skills to aid them in their careers. Attendees also had the opportunity to expand their technical expertise alongside building connections within the music community.
“Mother’s Write was created to break barriers and ensure that the creativity and careers of mothers are nurtured, valued and celebrated,” said Horne. “Too many women are pushed out of the music industry once they become mothers. Mother's Write is aiming to reshape the industry to be more inclusive, diverse and representative of the powerful voices of mothers."

Feedback from a number of the Mother's Write participants included:
"I felt seen, which was very meaningful."
"By the end I was blown away by what I am capable of."
"The benefits of spending time with other mothers who juggle creativity with parenting cannot be underestimated."
"It feels much more professional to be paid to be on the camp. It meant the participants approached it with a professional attitude."
