UMPG & 45RPM team on global publishing agreement with film composer and artist Daniel Blumberg

Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) and music entertainment collective 45RPM have partnered on a global publishing agreement with Academy Award-winning composer and artist Daniel Blumberg.

Blumberg is a London-based composer and artist whose practice operates across songwriting, improvisation, drawing and sound. He was previously signed to Warner Chappell.

Blumberg’s addition to the Classics & Screen and 45RPM roster underscores their “shared commitment to championing bold, boundary-pushing composers working across screen and contemporary music”, according to the announcement.

He has released four solo albums on Mute – Minus (2018), Liv (2014), On&On (2020) and Gut (2023) – and composed scores for films including The Brutalist, Sotto le Nuvole/Pompei: Below The Clouds and The Testament of Ann Lee. In 2025, he was awarded an Academy Award and BAFTA for his score for The Brutalist.

Blumberg is also a visual artist who draws with silverpoint. His work has been exhibited at Balice Hertling Paris, Triennale di Milano, ICA London, Kunsthal Rotterdam, Deichtorhallen Hamburg and KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin.

Daniel Blumberg said: “I'm happy to be working with Ayla Owen again and to be signing to 45RPM and look forward to collaborating with them and the broader team at Universal Music Publishing on my upcoming creative projects.”

Natasha Baldwin, president of Global Classics, Jazz & Screen at UMPG and UMG, said: “Daniel is an incredible composer and artist with a unique musical voice. We are excited and privileged to be welcoming him and his manager Mark Slater, to the UMPG family with our friends and partners 45RPM.”

Ayla Owen, managing director and co-founder of 45RPM Music Publishing, added: “Daniel is a rare and extraordinary talent with a singular vision. Having the opportunity to work with him again after signing him at Warner Chappell feels truly full circle. Through our partnership with Universal Music Publishing Group, he will be supported by a world-class team of creatives. I’m thrilled to be working together again and excited for what’s ahead!”

At UMPG, he joins a global group of composers including Nicholas Britell, Isobel Waller-Bridge, Max Richter, Jerskin Fendrix, Oneohtrix Point Never and David Lynch.

At 45RPM Music Publishing he joins a boutique roster including the multi-award winning composers Toydrum, Arthur Sharpe, and rising singer, songwriter and composer Harvey Causon.

UMPG’s catalogue also spans historic repertoires such as Ricordi (Italy), Durand/Salabert-Eschig (France) and EMB (Hungary), as well as representing composers including Puccini, Messiaen, David Lang, Julia Wolfe and Michael Gordon.

Established in 2022, 45RPM is a music supervision collective founded by industry experts Iain Cooke (Back to Black, The Gentleman), Sarah Bridge (The Crown, Theory of Everything), Catherine Grieves (Baby Reindeer, Killing Eve) and Nick Angel (Paddington 2, Bridget Jones’ Diary). Ayla Owen, former head of music at BBH London and ex-European VP of sync at Warner Chappell Music, took on the role of 45RPM managing director in January 2024.

In October 2024, 45RPM partnered with Universal Music Publishing to offer composers, songwriters and production companies insights from their music supervisors, combined with the reach of Universal Music Publishing.
