Sony Music Publishing has promoted Margherita Gnech to managing director of Italy, effective immediately.
Gnech will be responsible for overseeing creative and business operations across SMP Italy, driving the company’s growth and innovation. She will continue to be based out of Milan and will report directly to Guy Henderson, Sony Music Publishing president, international.
Margherita Gnech said: “Taking on the role of managing director is a proud and meaningful milestone in my journey. She has a clear vision about the creative future of our company and will be a major contributor to Italy’s music publishing business. Her relationships across our global network will be instrumental as we continue to expand Italian songwriters’ presence around the world.”
Sony Music Publishing said Gnech has played an integral role in the growth of the company, including building the legal and business affairs department and offering a collaborative approach to SMP’s songwriter services.
She first joined the company in 2020 as senior manager, legal & business affairs and most recently held the position of head of legal & business affairs. She first began her career as a copyright lawyer in the IP and TMT department at Osborne Clarke in Milan, and then at Simmons & Simmons.
