Sony Music Publishing launches in the Philippines

Sony Music Publishing has launched its new flagship office in the Philippines.

The establishment of SMP PH is described as a “strategic expansion dedicated to the development and promotion of Filipino songwriters both locally and around the world”.  

Additionally, SMP has appointed Stephanie Ortiz (pictured) as general manager of SMP PH, effective immediately. Based in Manila, Ortiz reports to Sony Music Publishing’s president, Asia, Roslyn Pineda. 

“SMP PH will work closely with the stakeholders in the Filipino music industry, including music labels and collection societies, to advance international networks and partnerships, and develop creative opportunities for the company’s composers and songwriters,” said a statement.

"Stephanie Ortiz's appointment as general manager of Sony Music Publishing Philippines marks a pivotal moment for our organisation and the Filipino music landscape,” said Roslyn Pineda, president, Asia, Sony Music Publishing. “Her extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry will drive innovation and growth, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for creativity in the region. I am confident her leadership will enhance our presence and help connect Filipino artistry with audiences around the world.”

As general manager of SMP PH, Stephanie Ortiz will focus on expanding the company’s creative and commercial opportunities in the Philippines, with the Manila base providing a global home for Filipino songwriters.  

Ortiz has more than a decade of music industry and business experience. She previously served as head of digital business at Universal Music Group Philippines, leading commercial partnerships and driving digital business growth.  

She later served as head of label for Believe Music, overseeing label partnerships and key accounts, including Universal Records, Polyeast Records and ABS-CBN’s Star Music, while also signing independent talent. 

“It is an honour to champion Filipino songwriters, from legendary voices to emerging talent,” said Stephanie Ortiz. “We look forward to bringing their music to the international stage, connecting their stories and creativity with audiences everywhere and supporting their continued growth and success.”

SMP PH represents a songwriter and composer roster in the region including Ben&Ben, SB19’s John Paulo Nase, Josh Cullen Santos, Justin de Dios, O Side Mafia, DWTA, Ace Banzuelo, Mateo, Arnel de Pano, Mike Hanopol, Rey Valera and more.
