Recognition Music Group has formed a senior advisory group and appointed Matt Spetzler as its chairman.
Lisa Alter and David H Johnson have joined the senior advisory group as members.
Hipgnosis was rebranded to Recognition Music Group in March.
“The senior advisory group will provide strategic counsel and guidance to Recognition Music Group, and support in its mission of enhancing the legacy and value of its song portfolio,” said a statement. “Comprised of leaders with broad experience across the music industry, the group brings a wealth of expertise to support the company’s vision.”
Matt Spetzler, chairman of the senior advisory group, is the founder of Jamen Capital and a technology and media investor. Formerly co-head of Europe at Francisco Partners, where he remains a senior advisor, he is currently a board member of several music and audio companies.
Lisa Alter is a partner at Alter, Kendrick & Baron, having focused her practice in the area of music law for more than 30 years. She has worked in areas including copyright law, statutory termination/reversion, deal structuring and negotiation, and the assessment and mitigation of risks in music transactions.
David H Johnson has more than 40 years of experience in the music industry, including as general counsel of Sony Music and Warner Music, chairman and chief executive of Warner Chappell Music, and chief executive of EMI Music Publishing management.
He has operational knowledge of music publishing, including publishing partnerships, operating models, royalty collection efficacy and digital licensing.
