Kobalt has signed a global publishing deal with UK band South Arcade.
The Oxford-based group have amassed more than 20 million streams across their debut EP (released in December) and almost 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
South Arcade have made the daytime playlist at BBC Radio 1 and been played on Jack Saunders’ Future Artists show. On the live front, they rapidly sold out London’s Koko.
“We could not be happier to welcome South Arcade to the Kobalt Family,” said Kenny McGoff, Kobalt’s head of creative, UK and GSA. “The songs and talent match up to explode with energy and life. The global reach has fully started and we can't wait to be along for the ride. Big shout to Ben Karter for believing in us as much as we do in all things South Arcade."
Harmony Scott-Russell, South Arcade lead singer and co-songwriter, said: “We’re stoked to be working with Kobalt because they really get what we’re about. As gamers and movie lovers, we know how much music shapes culture - we’ve discovered some of our favourite songs through soundtracks. Can’t wait to see where our music ends up!”
The band have had multiple sold-out headline shows over the last year, as well as supporting acts including Dead Pony, Røry and Yours Truly.

South Arcade manager Ben Karter said: "South Arcade are one of the most exciting new bands in years, and their songwriting is a huge part of what makes them special. Kenny, Miller, Melissa, and the team at Kobalt truly understood the band's vision and music, rather than just buying into their data."
Miller Williams, Kobalt’s senior vice president of creative in London, said: "I was convinced at my first South Arcade gig. Huge potential, great anthemic songs, excellent musicians, top class vocals, and songs that will resonate with a worldwide audience."
Melissa Emert-Hutner, Kobalt’s senior vice president of creative in New York, said: "South Arcade embodies everything that draws me to an artist – immense talent, unwavering drive, and incredibly catchy songs. I'm truly honored to be working with them and their team, and I'm excited for the amazing things the future holds for them on a global scale."
