Kobalt names Jason Feinberg as senior vice president and head of Kosign

Kosign, the new music publishing platform launched by Kobalt, has named music industry veteran Jason Feinberg as senior vice president and head of Kosign.

“Kosign was launched earlier this year to empower artists, songwriters, and producers to collect their publishing royalties flexibly and seamlessly,” said a statement.

In its first weeks, Kosign has received applications from writers in 88 countries, with catalogues representing billions of streams. Applications for membership remain open.

Jason Feinberg has spent a career building and maintaining platforms for artists. Most recently he served as a managing partner at 138 Strategic, a company that advises artists and executives on strategy, technology, marketing, e-commerce and direct-to-fan engagement.

Previously, he served as senior vice president of marketing at Universal Music Group, rebuilding and expanding the marketing department for UMe, the catalogue division of the world’s largest music company. He was also head of artist marketing at Pandora’s AMP, the platform created to empower artists to connect with their most loyal fans.

“Jason has built a successful career at the nexus of artist development, artist relations and technology,” said Laurent Hubert, CEO of Kobalt. “His expertise, track record and deep relationships in the business make him perfectly suited to run Kosign as we continue to grow our customer base around the world.”

Built on Kobalt’s global infrastructure, Kosign aims to provide streamlined experience that makes publishing efficient and transparent. The platform offers “global royalty collection, seamless song registration, real-time transparency, full ownership and total flexibility”, according to the announcement.

Key team members who spearheaded launching the platform have also been elevated in the organisation as Kobalt builds the Kosign exec team. Former chief of staff, David Waite, has been promoted to operations lead at Kosign, while former director of creative strategy, Jacob Paul, has been promoted to vice president of platform growth & brand strategy at Kosign.

“I’m passionate about everything that Kosign stands for,” said Jason Feinberg. “The platform empowers artists to collect their publishing revenue around the world, providing them the freedom and support they deserve. I’m excited to work alongside David and Jacob to continue to fulfill Kosign’s promise to the independent artist and songwriter community. I also want to thank Laurent and [Kobalt President and CCO] Jeannette Perez for putting their faith in me to lead this important and innovative division.”
