Groove Bound Songs has signed Erica Avenue’s Romy Jones and Jarrah Eisner to an exclusive songwriter agreement under its joint venture with Bucks Music Group.
Formed in 2024, Erica Avenue are an Australian five-piece alt-pop band inspired by the likes of The Beaches, Wet Leg and Boy Genius.
The band have self-released four singles with recent release Something As Good As Us receiving its premiere on Triple J’s Home & Hosed.
Represented for live by Cult Artists, Erica Avenue have sold out multiple headline shows across Melbourne (prompting venue upgrades). Festival appearances include St Kilda Fest, Mordialloc Fest, Always Live's Garage Band and Franjafest.
With Groove Bound Songs taking an active role in Erica Avenue’s development and promotion, Ryan Meeking has been brought on board as a consultant to A&R the band. The publisher has set up sessions with co-writers and producers for a new EP.
An artist in his own right, Meeking has worked with and as part of acts such as Gossling and Whitaker, as well as having released solo work since 2021. He has racked up millions of streams across platforms and had his songs featured in hit shows such as Suits, Teen Wolf and So You Think You Can Dance USA.
After three songs, I was instantly hooked by their infectious indie/pop
Jonathan Tester
In a joint statement, Romy Jones and Jarrah Eisner said: “We are beyond excited to be joining the Groove Bound/Bucks family! We are so grateful to be developing our career with the guidance of Ryan and Jonathan, who are both people we greatly respect and trust. It was important to us as young emerging female artists that we partnered with people who believe in our music as well as us as people. We’re excited to see what we can achieve together!”
Groove Bound Songs founder Jonathan Tester said: “Skipping dessert and a superfast Uber driver led me to catch Erica Avenue. The plan was to hang out with writer/producer Ryan Meeking whilst on holiday in Melbourne, but he had heard great things about Erica Avenue and suggested we rush to catch their show. After three songs, I was instantly hooked by their infectious indie/pop and the audience connection. I knew immediately I wanted to work with them. Romy and Jarrah are natural songwriters and, live, the band have a real sense of a gang who are inviting you to their party. My instant reaction was that I had found the Bangles x Boy Genius.”
Ryan Meeking said: “It’s always special to experience timeless writing from a fresh perspective – and that's Erica Avenue all over. It's a privilege to be working alongside Jonathan to support and elevate these songs and, more importantly, the brilliant writers behind them.”
Groove Bound Songs was launched in 2024 as a joint venture with Bucks Music Group by Bucks’ head of sync Jonathan Tester. The company benefits from Bucks’ back end administration, creative A&R, sync services and general expertise under the JV.
Iraina Mancini was announced as the inaugural signing of Groove Bound Songs at the company’s launch, with Ellie Gowers being unveiled as the second addition to the roster in April last year.
