Chrysalis co-founder Chris Wright returns to music with publisher and label Right Tracks

Chris Wright, Chrysalis Records co-founder and former chairman of the BPI, has made a return to music with the launch of new venture Right Tracks.

“Right Tracks is a new boutique publishing and label company which aims to provide access, expertise, and long-term support in a changing music landscape,” said a statement. “It is shaped by his long-standing commitment to developing emerging talent, supporting iconic writers, and navigating the realities of keeping creative people and their work protected, recognised and earning.”

“I am tremendously enthused and excited to be back in the record business after a reasonably lengthy hiatus of over 10 years,” said Chris Wright. “The record business has been a huge part of my life for well over 50 years now, and I’ve missed being part of it enormously.”

“I’m aware that the matrix of how one operates have changed significantly from my heyday and that replicating the kind of success we had with artists like Debbie Harry of Blondie, David Bowie, Ultravox, Huey Lewis and Spandau Ballet to name just a few will not come easy,” added Wright. “We are, however, really excited about the new talent we have discovered, and we are totally committed to doing everything possible to develop them into the superstars of tomorrow. It will be an honour and a privilege to be associated with success of this nature should it happen. And hopefully it will!”

The Right Tracks roster currently includes indie-rock act Black Lounge (label and publishing), singer-songwriters Flora Fiora (label and publishing) and Finn Forster (publishing), along with Stuart Brayson (publishing), who has written 28 musicals which have been performed in the West End, on Broadway and beyond, including From Here To Eternity.

Chris Wright is supported at Right Tracks by four team members: Joseph Spiteri (A&R director), Roberta Moore (sync manager), Naomi Wallace (rights manager) and Ellen Sorlan (finance manager).

Right Tracks aims to cater specifically to the needs of each artist by scaling resources up or down as required.

“Its core strength lies in relationships built over a lifetime, and it’s this network that allows Right Tracks to remain small, purposeful and agile, supporting artists in a way that feels human, hands-on, and genuinely and measurably effective,” added the statement.

Right Tracks also covers rights, registrations, royalties, sync opportunities and long-term catalogue planning for songwriters and estates.
