The 2025 edition was another sell-out event and concluded with an appearance by Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner to honour manager and Wildlife Entertainment CEO Ian McAndrew with The Strat trophy.
Last year’s Radio Station trophy was won by BBC Radio 6 Music, who reclaimed the crown from 2024 winners Radio 1.
Jez Bell, chief licensing officer at PPL, told Music Week: “Radio continues to play an essential role in people’s lives, with 86% of adults in the UK tuning into their favourite station each week. PPL is once again proud to support the Radio Station category at this year’s Music Week Awards, which recognises the incredible work of all those nominated.”
PPL paid a total of £277.7 million to performers and recording rights-holders in 2025. On December 17 last year, the company made a payment of £54.3 million to 147,000 performers and recording rights-holders, either as direct members of PPL or indirectly through other collective management organisations (CMOs), including more than 8,500 first time payees.
