Mohammad Qazalbash hosts Shukr, a landmark iftar event celebrating Muslim creatives

Shukr, a first-of-its-kind iftar event celebrating Muslim creatives, was held on Saturday evening at 180 House.

Curated and hosted by vice president of publicity at Live Nation, Mohammad Qazalbash, in partnership with Soho House and Huda Beauty, Krept & Konan and Mayor Of London Sadiq Khan were among the guests to speak on the importance of representation and belonging at the event. Other guests from across the music business included Jannat Choudhury, Morad Khokar, Ra'ed Khan, Nemat Abdela, Zubin Irani, Noha Hussein and Menna Dief.

With attendees from Live Nation, Warner Music, NBA, Condé Nast, The Guardian, Olivier Award-winning actors and artists from the music, beauty and fashion sectors, the event was designed to bring together British Muslim creatives across industries, providing a space for representation, collaboration and community.

Taking place during Ramadan, Shukr centers around iftar, the evening meal where Muslims break their fast, thus the gathering served as a platform to celebrate the contributions of Muslim professionals in the creative world while acknowledging the cultural and spiritual significance of the holy month.

Looking ahead, Shukr – the name derived from the Arabic word for gratitude – aims to build an ongoing dialogue about inclusivity within creative industries.

“Shukr was born out of a simple but powerful idea – to create a space where Muslims in the creative world can come together, connect and feel a sense of belonging,” said Qazalbash, speaking on the significance of the event. “For far too long, spaces like this have been few and far between. I’m grateful to Soho House and Huda Beauty for supporting this event.”
