The BRIT Awards 2025 have unveiled this year’s most nominated artist Charli XCX as the recipient of the BRITs Songwriter Of The Year award.
The UK star is nominated for five BRIT awards, the highest number of any artist this year, for Artist Of The Year, Mastercard Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year with Mastercard, Dance Act and Pop Act.
The BRITs Songwriter Of The Year award, recognising exceptional songwriting talent, is decided by a select panel of expert judges, with previous recipients including Ed Sheeran, Kid Harpoon and Raye, who won in 2024.
Damian Christian, managing director and president of promotions at Atlantic Records and chair of the BRIT Committee for 2025, said: "Charli has had an undeniable year, taking her experimental brand of electronic and pop from underground raves to the heart of mainstream culture. Charli's songwriting is distinctive, bold and relentlessly innovative, and, having been one of the UK's leading songwriters for a number of years now, has taken her craft to new heights with her global phenomenon Brat. I'm delighted she has been recognised for this much deserved award."
In June 2024, Charli XCX released her Grammy-winning sixth studio album Brat, which landed at No.1 on the UK Official Albums Chart. Brat was nominated for the Mercury Prize 2024, while Guess featuring Billie Eilish debuted at No.1 on the UK Singles Chart.
The news of Charli XCX's win follows the announcement that the singer's longtime collaborator, AG Cook, is the recipient of this year’s BRITs Producer of the Year award.
Along with Charli XCX and AG Cook, The BRITs have revealed the winners of two more awards in advance of this year’s show, which will be taking place on March 1 at The O2. Announced last year, the winner of this year’s BRITs Rising Star award is Myles Smith, and as confirmed earlier this month, Sabrina Carpenter will be presented with the BRITs Global Success award on the night.
