UTA to host La Femme Majeure networking event to mark International Women's Day

UTA is marking International Women’s Day (March 8) with a brunch and networking event.

Founded in 2018, La Femme Majeure (LFM) is a UTA organisation and event series dedicated to bringing together music’s next generation of female leaders, nurturing professional growth and advancing gender equality in the industry.

The event at Mortimer House, London on Friday, March 7 is for women from all parts of the UK music industry, across all levels of seniority.

The London chapter of LFM is made up of a group of women from UTA’s music team spanning agents, assistants and coordinators: Sammy Gardiner, Kayleigh Lawrence, Charlotte Chow, Harriet Fraser, Anaya Masonde, Sophie Roberts and Ishsha Bourguet.

The aim of the brunch is to become UTA’s yearly celebration for International Women’s Day and a notable date in the calendar across the industry. Confirmed attendees for the event are from across the industry: major labels, indies, management, promoters, venues, lawyers and industry bodies.

"Seeing the way that so many passionate and talented women of UTA, across each office from Los Angeles to London, have grown La Femme Majeure in their cities has been one of the highlights of my career,” said Zoe Williamson, agent, UTA (La Femme Majeure co-founder). “My colleagues and I started La Femme Majeure in 2018 when we were assistants. Now, we are all agents and executives together and helping the next generation rise up while looking to our mentors in the community to keep growing in our own careers. Our events are known for being authentic and organic because they're put together and hosted by women at all levels who really want to help build the path for a new generation of women in leadership."

“As someone still in the early stages of their career, I know how invaluable it can be to meet, learn and be inspired by other women who have done incredible things,” said Charlotte Chow, assistant, UTA (running the London event). “Being a woman in the music industry comes with its challenges, so we're thrilled to be able to offer an event that speaks to London's culture and helps the women here build community and professional relationships together at all levels of the industry.”

“Having been fortunate enough to work with some incredible women in the industry during my career, I know just how important it is to provide opportunities and access to those starting out,” said Sam Kirby Yoh, co-head of global music, UTA. “And it works both ways. I’m constantly learning and being inspired by the next generation of female agents and executives who bring such energy and fresh ideas to our industry. Let’s make sure their voices are heard.”

All LFM events are open to cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centres around the experiences of women.
