Brian Eno, Damon Albarn, Celeste & more perform as Together For Palestine Fund raises £1.5 million

Almost £1.5 million has been raised for the Together For Palestine Fund after Brian Eno (above) and many more starred on the bill at a special live show at OVO Arena Wembley last night (September 17).

A line-up comprising more than 150 figures spanning musicians, actors, sportspeople, journalists, poets and more took to the stage at the event.

A figure approaching £1.5 million has been raised from ticket sales and private donations, with organisers targeting further fundraising in the coming weeks.

Money raised via Choose Love will be distributed to Palestinian-led organisations such as Taawon, Palestine Children's Relief Fund and Palestine Medical Relief Service.

With visuals provided by Gazan painter Malak Mattar, executive producer Eno assembled an ensemble including Damon Albarn, Paul Weller, Adnan Joubran, Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor and Nadine Shah for a specially composed piece of music, before delivering a reading of the Khaled Juma poem Oh Rascal Children Of Gaza.

Elsewhere, Eric Cantona and footballer Mahmoud Sarsak honoured Sarsak’s teammate Suleiman al-Obeid, the ‘Palestinian Pelé’ who was killed by Israeli forces whilst waiting for humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Annie Lennox provided a pre-recorded, one-off performance of her hit single Why?, with the new version, Why? - For Gaza to be made available on YouTube and DSPs, with all protests going to the Together For Palestine Fund.

Albarn later joined The London Arab Orchestra and the Juzour Dance Collective on stage, while the Blur singer was also accompanied by Yasiin Bey, Gorillaz and Omar Souleyman.

Further musical highlights included Neneh Cherry, Greentea Peng and Dan Smith of Bastille performing 7 Seconds, while Cat Burns and Rachel Chinouriri performed their collaboration Even.

Palestinian star Saint Levant played Wazira, Kalamantina and Deira, Celeste played new single Woman Of Faces and Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna performed Olive Branch (Ghosn Zeytoun).

Rina Sawayama closed the show alongside executive producer and actor Khalid Abdalla.
