Ahead of the opening night of British Airways ARC, AEG Presents UK has appointed Robbie Powell as the venue’s first general manager.

Powell has more than 15 years’ experience in large-scale venue and festival operations.
“As a senior venue leader, he has been responsible for delivering both commercial and operational success across major UK venues,” said a statement.
Powell was most recently theatre director at New Wimbledon Theatre. Prior to that he served as general manager at the Fortune Theatre in London’s West End, and he held senior positions at Pleasance Theatre Trust and the Barbican Centre.

Powell will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of British Airways ARC, overseeing and setting booking strategy. He will report to Lucy Noble.

The 3,800-capacity purpose-built live music and events venue is part of the £1.3 billion transformation of Olympia, London.
