Island EMI is celebrating its 10th No.1 album as we reach the mid-point of 2025.
Yungblud is the latest artist to hit the summit for the label group. Idols is the UK artist’s third consecutive No.1 – and there’s potential for another chart-topper in fairly quick succession, as it is a double-album project from Yungblud.
Idols (Locomotion/Island) opened with consumption of 25,947 (Official Charts Company), including 23,310 physical copies, 621 downloads and 2,016 sales-equivalent streams. Physical sales were boosted by signed editions and vinyl variants.
The Doncaster-born artist (Dominic Harrison) has racked up almost 7.6 billion global streams across all his catalogue, and 786 million streams in the UK. Current single Zombie has so far peaked at No.73 in the UK and has spent four weeks on the Top 100.
The No.1 for Yungblud is the 10th so far this year for Universal Music UK's Island EMI – the most for any label group. It follows chart-topping results for Elton John (Diamonds and Brandi Carlile collaboration Who Believes In Angels?), Chappell Roan, The Weeknd, Taylor Swift (Lover Live from Paris and The Tortured Poets Department), Mumford & Sons, Stereophonics and Morgan Wallen.
To be celebrating his third consecutive No.1 album is a truly remarkable achievement
Louis Bloom
“Huge congratulations to Dom on the success of Idols,” said Island EMI president Louis Bloom. “We are all thrilled to see it debut at Number 1 in the UK. This has been a fantastic partnership between Island EMI, Special Projects' Tommas Arnby and Adam Wood [management], together with Tom March and the team at Locomotion Recordings/Capitol Records. Being in Dom’s company is intoxicating. We have always had 100% faith in his vision, and it’s been a joy to work with such a talented and charismatic superstar .
“He shows all the signs of being a truly timeless artist in the tradition of UK all-time greats, and it's no wonder artists from Ozzy Osbourne to Mick Jagger are drawn to him because he exhibits the same iconic qualities. The special connection he shares with his fans, and the unbelievable passion and energy he brings to both his records and his live shows, is unmatched.”
The No.1 result for Idols follows a successful second edition of Yungblud’s Bludfest (June 21) festival. He has announced a UK arena tour for April 2026.
“To be celebrating his third consecutive No.1 album is a truly remarkable achievement and his second Bludfest festival, which took place last weekend, was further proof that Dom is on an unstoppable path to global superstardom,” added Bloom. “I have to give special mention to Ilaria Trifoglio, who has delivered a fantastic marketing campaign which has been driven, from the start, by her passion for the artist and project as a whole.”
Alan Edwards, founder & CEO of the Outside Organisation, said: “Within minutes of meeting Yungblud, I knew that he had the potential to be a global superstar, and everything that has happened since then has absolutely confirmed my opinion. Idols takes the music to another level. It can really reach different audiences.
“Working with him on the campaign has been such a creative and exciting process. As Bludfest showed, Yungblud is one of the most charismatic performers out there who will surely be filling stadiums around the world before long. Jack Kaye [at Outside] and I are loving working with him and in some ways this is just the beginning.”
