Y Royalties makes senior appointments as part of growth strategy

Music rights and royalty services company Y Royalties has made two senior appointments as part of its continued strategic growth plan.

Andy Elms has joined as associate director overseeing the royalty audit team alongside director Gary Groutage, while Jason Bennett has been appointed head of royalty accounting.

In a statement, Y Royalties said the appointments “further strengthen the company’s world-class expertise as it scales its services for artists, songwriters, labels, publishers and institutional investors”.

As associate director, Andy Elms will oversee Y Royalties’ audit team, which consistently achieves successful claims. His appointment adds operational expertise across music, television, film and talent management.

Prior to joining Y Royalties, Elms led the royalty department at OJK (formerly YMU) Business Management, overseeing audits, catalogue valuations, third-party accounting and industry registrations including PPL, PRS For Music and MCPS. He has broad senior finance experience from organisations such as Avalon, Sanctuary Records, Eagle Rock Entertainment, and Warner Music Group.

"I admire what the team at Y Royalties has built and the expertise they bring to music audits, and I’m delighted to be joining a company recognised for its forensic approach, proprietary technology, and commitment to transparency across the industry,” said Andy Elms.

With Andy and Jason strengthening our leadership team, we are even better positioned to challenge convention, reveal what others miss, and set the benchmark for transparency and innovation in music rights

Jason Bennett will lead Y Royalties' royalty accounting department, overseeing financial reporting and royalty payments to ensure accuracy across all statements for artists, rights-holders and third-party partners.

With more than 35 years of experience in music royalties and accounting, he has expertise in contract interpretation, systems implementation and complex calculations. Bennett previously held senior royalty roles at Universal Music Group, and more recently spent more than a decade at BMG Rights Management.

"I am really excited to join Y Royalties in this pivotal moment in the company’s development and to lead a great team dedicated to delivering new standards in royalty accounting,” said Jason Benntt. “Our focus will be combining technical precision with innovation-driven systems and processes to ensure clients have complete clarity and confidence in their royalty reporting.”

Colin Young, founder of Y Royalties, added: “The music industry is experiencing unprecedented complexity as streaming evolves and the volume of data grows, while data formats remain inconsistent. Our mission remains simple: help musicians and songwriters get paid properly. With Andy and Jason strengthening our leadership team, we are even better positioned to challenge convention, reveal what others miss, and set the benchmark for transparency and innovation in music rights.”
