Warner India's Divo appoints Ashok Parwani as head of music

Digital media and music company Divo, which is majority owned by Warner Music India, has appointed Ashok Parwani as head of music.

“The strategic move reinforces Divo’s commitment to significantly expanding its regional catalogue, strengthening creator partnerships, and accelerating its overall growth strategy across the key Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam markets,” said a statement.

Parwani has more than four decades of experience across India, Sri Lanka and the UAE. During his two-decade tenure at Sony Music India, he was instrumental in building Sony Music South into the number one label in the region, leading major catalogue acquisitions and cultivating relationships with top producers, filmmakers and artists.

Divo has established itself as a key player in South India’s music ecosystem, offering distribution, publishing, digital content and influencer marketing. Warner Music India’s majority acquisition of Divo in 2023 underlined its commitment to investing in regional cultures.

Divo Music partners with film producers, independent labels and artists to take their music to a global audience via distribution, publishing and sync. The catalogue spans Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi music.

The company currently manages a large and growing music catalogue and recently launched Loopd, an artist-first label focused on independent talent, leveraging Warner Music Group’s global network.

Divo has also expanded its cross-border ambitions, including a collaborative initiative with Sri Lanka’s M-Entertainments, designed to create new international opportunities for regional artists.
