Proper Music Distribution signs new D2C deals with Hospital Records and Heavenly Recordings

Proper Music Distribution signs new D2C deals with Hospital Records and Heavenly Recordings

Proper Music Distribution is expanding its direct-to-consumer (D2C) business with new fulfillment partnerships with Hospital Records and Heavenly Recordings.

The deals will see Proper utilising its IT infrastructure to facilitate Official Charts Company eligibility for all physical music sales via Bandcamp – the first distributor to offer this capability at scale.

It comes amid a period of rapid growth for Proper’s D2C division, which strengthened its roster in 2025 with Bella Union and Transgressive. D2C has become a key part of the company’s offering for independent labels.

Proper will manage fulfillment of Hospital’s Bandcamp and own online store, supporting limited-edition merch drops and vinyl releases. Centralising fulfillment for both stores via Proper’s Dartford warehouse will allow Hospital to maintain focus on creative aspects of artist development and fan engagement. It will also reduce administration for artists, and logistics-related CO2 emissions.

As part of the deal, Proper will service Awake, the upcoming album from London drum & bass producer Metrik, due out in November.

Proper will also handle global fulfillment (excluding the US) of Heavenly’s Bandcamp store across all physical music formats. One of the first projects includes the new joint single Sayonara from Kneecap and Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll, which was released in October.

Drew Hill (pictured), managing director at Proper Music Distribution, said: “We’re proud to welcome Heavenly and Hospital into the Proper family. Both labels are home to some of the best in independent music and it’s exciting to support their D2C set-ups to better connect artists with their  fans. Made possible by our state-of-the-art IT systems, our ability to register Bandcamp sales with the OCC has become a key part of what we offer to independent labels looking to scale their D2C operations.”

Craig Dawson, managing director of Hospital Records, said “Hospital Records is excited to be working with a physical distribution partner that shares its commitment to supporting the independent music community. The team at Proper are exceptionally professional, passionate, and forward-thinking, and this partnership represents the kind of collaboration that keeps the independent sector strong. By embracing new technology and innovative logistics solutions, Hospital continues to build on its reputation as a leading, forward-looking force in drum & bass.”

Georgia Edge, of Heavenly Recordings, added: “We’re really happy to be teaming up with Proper for our Heavenly Bandcamp fulfillment. Mainly because of all the packing time and storage space we’re about to get back! It’s bittersweet as we’ll miss hand-packing fan orders, but our Bandcamp community has grown a lot in 2025 so this feels like the right step as we look ahead to 2026. Our first release together is going smoothly and we’re excited to see where things go next.”

These new partnerships build on Proper’s record in offering direct-to-fan services, following the D2C signings this year with Bella Union and Transgressive.

Proper’s Bandcamp fulfillment agreement with Transgressive helped Sparks to their highest ever UK chart position, with the duo’s album Mad! debuting at No.2.

For Bella Union, Proper’s handling of Bandcamp and Shopify sales also helped BC Camplight peak at No.3 on the independent albums chart for A Sober Conversation in June, via a limited edition run of signed vinyl records.
