Music technology firm AudioSalad appoints Björn Sandberg as head of commercial marketing

AudioSalad has appointed Björn Sandberg to the newly created position of head of commercial marketing.

Acquired by SESAC in 2023, the music technology company provides content management, analytics, delivery and distribution services for artists, labels, rights-holders and distributors. Clients include ATO Records, Exceleration Music, Foundation Media, Mad Decent, Mushroom Group, NBCUniversal, Redeye, Secretly Distribution, Sparta (300 Entertainment), Stones Throw, and more.

AudioSalad is headquartered in New York, with offices in Los Angeles, London and Tokyo.

In this role, Sandberg will lead the evolution of AudioSalad’s artist and label marketing, providing clients with services and tools for audience development and streaming strategy. Based in London, he will report to CEO Iain Catling

"Björn’s experience and deep understanding of commercial marketing in today’s complex marketplace make him a tremendous addition to our team,” said Iain Catling. “His expertise further strengthens our distribution capabilities as we continue building best-in-class services for artists, creators, and labels.”

“I’m thrilled to join AudioSalad at such an exciting time,” said Björn Sandberg. “Throughout my career, I’ve focused on creating campaigns that put artists’ voices and values front and centre. I believe artists are the true drivers of their creativity, and our role is to help bring their ideas to life and most importantly, back them every step of the way.

“From the moment I met Iain, Tom [Deakin, head of EMEA], and Patrick [Ferrell, head of business development], it was clear that AudioSalad shared my passion for empowering independent artists and labels to realise their vision. I’m excited to be part of the next chapter in AudioSalad’s evolution and to help shape its future.”

Previously, Sandberg was head of streaming at Domino Records, leading global commercial marketing strategy for Grammy, BRIT Awards and Mercury Prize-winning artists including Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Wet Leg, and more.

Before joining Domino, Sandberg held senior roles at Fuga as well as at independent labels Marathon Artists and Thrill Jockey Records. He began his career in his native Glasgow as an A&R scout and artist manager and is an alumnus of the city’s Stow College student-run label, Electric Honey , which launched acts such as Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol and Belle & Sebastian.
