IMPALA launches Label Camp initiative for cross-border collaboration

IMPALA is launching a new initiative designed to foster cross-border collaboration, peer learning and capacity building among independent labels across Europe.

This new Label Camp project is part of IMPALA’s EU network programme, which co-funds certain projects, boosting the organisation’s work to reinforce the independent music ecosystem.

Between 2025 and 2028, eight Label Camps will take place, bringing together 16 independent labels from different countries, with two camps scheduled per year. Each camp will host a pair of labels, matched through proposals by national associations and coordinated by IMPALA.

“The goal is to create a space for in-depth peer learning, where labels can exchange practical know-how and innovative strategies,” said a statement.

Camp activities will focus on key aspects such as label operations, networking, rights management, distribution models, marketing and more. Camps can also be hosted alongside industry events, such as showcase festivals or conferences.

Rory Brown, IMPALA PR and projects lead, said: “Label Camps are a cornerstone of our mission to strengthen the capacity of independent labels in Europe. We want to empower music companies to share knowledge, innovate together and build lasting cross-border partnerships.”

The Label Camps are part of IMPALA’s broader efforts to support innovation, increase access to finance and ensure that independent music companies have the tools and networks they need in the evolving industry.
