Taylor Swift has been confirmed by IFPI as the Global Recording Artist Of The Year 2024.
This is the fifth time that Taylor Swift has won the award from the organisation that represents the recorded music industry worldwide – and the third consecutive year.
In a record-breaking year across the board for the US superstar, 2024 has also seen her scoop up four other major IFPI awards. This includes the Global Album Chart, Global Vinyl Album Chart, Global Streaming Album Chart and Global Album Sales Chart thanks to the huge success of The Tortured Poets Department.

The Eras Tour boosted fan engagement with Swift’s entire catalogue on streaming platforms around the world. This phenomenon was demonstrated by the resurgence of her previous albums 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (2023), Midnights (2022), folklore (2020), evermore (2020) and Lover (2019), which all landed in the Top 20 of IFPI’s 2024 Global Vinyl Album Chart.
This marks the 12th year of the IFPI Global Recording Artist Of The Year Award, with Taylor Swift having taken the top spot of the chart more than any other artist during that time (this year’s win follows successes in 2014, 2019, 2022 and 2023).

Victoria Oakley, CEO, IFPI, said: “We are immensely proud to award the IFPI Global Recording Artist Of The Year Award to Taylor Swift for the fifth time, as she continues to redefine the limits of global success.
“This has been a huge year for Taylor, and it has been incredible to see the extent to which fans all over the world are connecting with her superb catalogue of music.”
It was also a year of breakthrough artists across the IFPI Global Charts. Zach Bryan and Sabrina Carpenter made their first appearance in the Top 10 of the Global Recording Artist Chart, while in the Global Streaming Album Chart, Noah Kahan, Benson Boone, Chappell Roan and Teddy Swims all featured for the first time.
Elsewhere, the various global album charts demonstrated the growing popularity of the country genre, reflected in chart appearances for Morgan Wallen, Beyoncé, Post Malone and Zach Bryan.
In the Global Album Sales Chart, based on unit sales across physical and download formats, K-Pop continued to be the leading genre. Elsewhere in Asia, Chinese artist Zhou Shen’s Shenself reached No.11, while Japanese act Snow Man reached No.17.
The Global Vinyl Album Chart also points to the shifting demographics of vinyl fans. IFPI noted a continuing trend towards newly released albums and frontline artists who skew significantly female, including Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Chappell Roan.
