There’s a big label move today in the world of rock and metal.
Music Week can reveal that Frontiers Label Group has appointed Tim Bailey as the new head of label – international. It follows a raft of big signings for the global rock label based in Italy.
Bailey has joined from UK rock label Earache, where he has just helped to steer Those Damn Crows to a No.1 album triumph.
“A respected industry executive with nearly two decades of experience across live music and recorded music, Bailey brings a proven track record of commercial success, creative leadership, and a strong commitment to artist development to the label,” said a statement from FLG.
Bailey began his music career as a concert promoter in 2006, curating and delivering live events across the UK up to arena level. During the pandemic, he pivoted to producing UK livestream broadcasts, including a 9,000-ticket online reunion event for Bellowhead and a major production with Gary Numan.
In 2021, he joined Earache Records as head of label, where he led the company through its most commercially successful period in its 40-year history, including delivering a UK No.1 album for Those Damn Crows, five UK Top 5 albums (including a No.2 result for Skindred), and 17 Top 40 charting albums in under four years.
The potential to be part of something which is set to have a real impact globally meant it was a no-brainer for me
Tim Bailey
“I’m delighted to join the team at Frontiers,” said Tim Bailey. “I’ve always admired what Serafino built from the ground up in Naples. Having met him and the wider team, there’s a rare passion and love for the music at the heart of everything they do. It’s infectious, and I’m excited to be part of it.”
Speaking about his decision to join Frontiers Label Group, Bailey said: “They’ve become one of the most trusted mainstays of rock in the last 29 years, but the last two years have seen a huge pivot in the label’s trajectory. New label imprints FLG (Skunk Anansie, The Hunna) and BLKIIBLK (Megadeth, Biohazard) are real statements of intent and ambition, and the potential to be part of something which is set to have a real impact globally meant it was a no-brainer for me.”
Skunk Anansie have just released The Painful Truth, their first album since signing to FLG.
“There’s a wealth of talent and experience here in the UK, in the US and across Europe, and it’s a pleasure to be invited into the team,” he added. “If I’d have told 13-year-old Tim he’d one day get to work with Megadeth he’d never have believed it. Thanks for making a kid’s dream come true, Serafino!”
