Downtown Artist & Label Services builds partnerships with international phonk labels

Downtown Artist & Label Services (DA&LS) has deepened its commitment to the fast-growing phonk genre.

The company has established long-term renewal deals with UK-based electronic label Polaris Records, helmed by Ethan Hawley, as well as Enarma Records, led by Malak Hanani from Australia.

“Our partnership with Downtown Artist & Label Services marks a significant milestone in Enarma’s evolution,” said Enarma Records’ Malak Hanani. “Together, we’re focused on growing the next wave of music – scaling phonk and internet music to new audiences and forging eminent marketing strategies that transform emerging artists into worldwide names.”

Phonk – a sub-genre of hip hop and trap – has evolved into a viral sound on social platforms.

“Downtown Artist & Label Services seamlessly bridges both worlds – collaborating with established acts while also driving viral moments within fast-paced online music culture,” said a statement.

“We’re excited to continue building with labels like Enarma and Polaris who have helped shape what Phonk means today,” said Rod Linnum, vice president, A&R, Downtown Artist & Label Services. “Phonk is making its mark on electronic music worldwide, and we’re honoured to partner with those helping define what comes next.”

In addition to Polaris and Enarma, Downtown continues to support many of the scene’s established names, including Phonk Records/Funk Records (a division of Kurate Music), Purple Crunch Records and Phonk Monsta.

Through these partnerships, Downtown distributes music from artists such as Scythermane, DJ Fnk, DJ Anxvar, JXM, DJ Fku, Trxveler and TokyoSleep.
