Def Jam Recordings has appointed Tim Pithouse as general manager.
Pithouse was previously president of Three Six Zero in New York, and has held past leadership roles at The Orchard, Sony Music Entertainment Australia, and more.
At Three Six Zero, he oversaw the management, recordings and music publishing operations, as well as the film and TV division. During his three years at the company, Pithouse worked with talent including Calvin Harris, Willow, Marcus Rashford, FKA Twigs, Skepta, Dom Dolla and Kid Cudi, among others.
In his new role Def Jam Recordings he will be based in New York and report to chairman & CEO Tunji Balogun.
Tim Pithouse said: “Def Jam has long stood at the creative intersection of artistry, success and culture. Having the opportunity to be part of this dynamic team and again work with Tunji Balogun and his unrivalled style and taste, is a privilege. I’m thrilled to be here and honoured to help write the next chapter of this iconic label.”
“I’ve known Tim Pithouse for almost a decade, going back to our days at Sony Music where we worked closely together to develop and break several new artists,” said Tunji Balogun. “Not only is Tim a world class executive, he’s also the rare person in our business who understands how culture moves and always has his finger on the pulse of what’s next. His breadth of knowledge and instinctive ability to interact with artists and their teams will be integral in helping to carry out our overall vision for the label. I’m thrilled to welcome Tim to the family at Def Jam.”
Pithouse’s career has included spells in the US, Australia and the UK. In the earlier phase of his career at the turn of the century, he worked in advertising sales at ITV/Granada.
He is also an advisor for Metallic Creative Agency and the Creative Futures Collective charity.
