BMG appoints ex-Warner Music exec Tim Miles as EVP of Global Sync+

BMG has appointed Tim Miles as executive vice president, Global Sync+

Based in London, Miles – reporting to Johannes von Schwarzkopf, chief strategy officer – will lead BMG’s recently launched Sync+ division.

In this new role, the company said Miles will be responsible for defining and executing the global Sync+ strategy, aligning teams across regions, and driving growth across BMG’s music-for-media business.

Miles will oversee global licensing, operations and regional services, while his remits includes strengthening relationships with key partners across film, television, advertising, gaming and digital platforms.

Miles has joined BMG after more than a decade at Warner Music Group, most recently as senior vice president, global sync, where he led the company’s global sync operation across more than 25 markets.

During his tenure, he played a key role in culturally significant music-for-media partnerships spanning film, television, gaming and brand collaborations.

Johannes von Schwarzkopf, chief strategy officer, BMG, said: “Tim brings a strong track record of building high-performing teams and driving impactful music-for-media partnerships. As we scale Sync+, our focus is on a more innovative, technology-enabled service – combining global scale with advanced capabilities in data, product, and AI to better connect music to opportunity. With a strong global leadership team, consisting of Allegra Willis Knerr, Amberly Crouse-Knox, Scott Doran and Caspar Kedros, in place, Tim will help drive the next phase of growth.”

Tim Miles said: “The opportunity with Sync+ is clear – a unified rights platform, a world-class catalogue, and a structure designed around our customers, from global studios to emerging digital platforms. The next phase is about being faster, smarter and more connected – through better product, sharper processes and a more integrated global approach. With GenAI and other technologies playing an increasing role in how music is discovered and licensed, there is real competitive advantage available to those who move decisively.”

Launched in January, Sync+ is BMG’s global music-for-media offering, uniting commercial sync, production music and media services within one integrated structure.

It combines BMG’s repertoire of more than three million songs and recordings, over 200,000 exclusive production music tracks and a range of creative services, ranging from consultancy and sonic branding to talent partnerships and original composition.
