Spotify is rolling out SongDNA, a new feature for premium subscribers that the streaming service describes as an “immersive music experience”.
Within the Now Playing view, Spotify subscribers can tap the SongDNA card to explore the writers, producers and collaborators behind a song, as well as the samples and interpolations that shaped its sound, and browse the covers it inspired.
It enables users to discover the other artists a songwriter has worked with and then explore those collaborators’ works.
“For artists and the wider creative community of songwriters, producers, composers and engineers, SongDNA offers a new way for fans to engage with their work by putting collaborations and influences front and centre,” said a statement.
The connections visible in SongDNA are powered by a combination of information from artists and their teams, supplemented by community-sourced data.

As the experience continues to evolve in beta, eligible artist and label teams can review and manage the components of SongDNA in Spotify For Artists.
“SongDNA is designed to make a song’s creative lineage more transparent so fans can easily explore the people and influences behind the music they love,” said Jacqueline Ankner, Spotify’s head of songwriter & publisher Partnerships. “By bringing collaborators, samples, and covers together in one place, we’re making it easier for fans to discover new music and see how songs connect and come to life – while giving songwriters, producers, and rights-holders meaningful recognition for the role they play in creating it.”
SongDNA complements existing features such as About The Song.
The SongDNA feature is now rolling out in beta for premium users globally on iOS and Android mobile devices, and will become widely available to all premium users throughout April.
