Spotify is marking the fifth anniversary of Radar, the global programme dedicated to amplifying emerging talent.
It has now supported more than 1,000 artists since it rolled out five years ago.
Since launching in 2020, Radar has supported those artists across 180-plus markets worldwide.
“Radar has proven itself as the global home for what’s next in music, championing emerging talent and giving them the tools to build lasting careers,” said a statement. “This milestone is both a celebration of the artists who’ve thrived and a look ahead at the voices shaping the future of sound.”
Radar artists have generated more than 338 billion streams, with 6.5 billion discoveries on Spotify. There have been over 1.5m playlist adds of Radar artists’ tracks on Spotify-owned playlists globally, and over 1.1 billion user-generated playlists globally since being added to the programme.
The Radar program elevates a diverse mix of emerging artists, spanning genres and regions. Notable alumni include Doechii, Peso Pluma, Enhypen, Tems, Tyla, PinkPantheress and Zach Bryan. Spotify has created a Best Of Radar playlist featuring the top 100 most-streamed Radar artists globally.
Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s global head of music editorial, said “Hitting this milestone in just five years shows that the appetite for discovery is universal. Listeners everywhere want to be part of an artist’s journey from the ground up, and Radar has become the bridge between that curiosity and real opportunity. Radar is about development, being there at the fragile moment when early buzz can tip into something bigger. That is what makes discovery exciting, not just finding talent, but helping it grow.”
