SoundCloud to reward "day one fans" with launch of Follower Exclusive Releases function

SoundCloud to reward

Now would be a good day to check that you're following your favourite artists on SoundCloud.

The platform has introduced Follower Exclusive Releases, a brand new feature that allows its Artist Pro creators to share tracks ("whether it’s an early demo, a work-in-progress track, or a surprise drop" exclusively with their followers, either for a limited time or indefinitely. This, SoundCloud says, will give “creators a new way to experiment, build momentum and deepen relationships with their audience.”

The function is being officially launched via Dutch DJ and producer Chris Stussy, who will release his track What Makes You Feel exclusively to his SoundCloud followers ahead of the full release of his debut album Lost, Found & Forgotten… on April 3.

Speaking about the new feature, he said: “I’ve been using SoundCloud since the start. During my early days I was uploading a lot of podcasts and recorded sets. I sometimes gave away a free download or posted snippets of upcoming tracks I was making. For this occasion I’d like to share What Makes You Feel… As a thank you for everyone who’s been listening to me on the platform all those years. It’s part of the Forgotten side of my album and I’m playing this track a lot as my intro the last couple of months. Enjoy this one, all the best.”

Earlier this year, SoundCloud appointed Maurice Slade as head of music, expanding his remit after nearly four years at the company.
