RuthAnne and Kid Rain to stream songwriting session on TikTok Live

TikTok is lifting the veil on how hits are made this week, with RuthAnne and Kid Rain set to create a new song from scratch in a TikTok Live session.

As part of the platform’s #SummerSkills Music Week, RuthAnne and Kid Rain will livestream from RuthAnne’s own account at the TikTok Live UK account, with fans able to interact and contribute ideas as the process unfolds.

Grammy-nominated Irish writer and artist RuthAnne has worked on hits for Britney Spears, One Direction, Martin Garrix, Niall Horan, JoJo and more, while rising UK artist Kid Rain has more than 400,000 followers on TikTok.

The session takes place on August 20 at 5pm BST, with the announcement coming the wake of TikTok’s Toyin Mustapha emphasising the platform’s commitment to creators in a recent interview with Music Week.

“I think that’s why it’s really important for people to know that as a platform, we are responsible,” said Mustapha, who is head of music partnerships in the UK. “The best way I can put it is we are committed to nurturing that human artistry and that’s something that I’m proud of us for thinking about. That is definitely something I want to make clear.”

"We really want to support human artistry and make sure human creativity is at the centre of anything and everything,” he added. “My job is to work with artists and their teams and to make sure they connect with TikTok users. We want to make sure that we are supporting and nurturing UK artists and their artistry. That’s the bottom line.”
