Oasis are seeing a surge in streaming consumption following the launch of the Live ’25 Tour in Cardiff (July 4).
The band were already performing well on DSPs ahead of their comeback shows, with the Time Flies – 1994-2009 collection returning to the Top 10 last month. Midweek Sales data now shows a significant impact following the opening night.
According to the Official Charts Company, Oasis are set to repeat their chart feat of three Top 5 albums, which they achieved following the tour announcement last year. Time Flies – 1994-2009 leads the way at No.1 with consumption up 215% week-on-week (12,796 units largely from streams), followed by (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? at No.2 (9,868 units – up 234.6%) and Definitely Maybe at No.4 (7,156 units – up 211.4%).
The Masterplan and Be Here Now are both chasing a return to the Top 75.
The singles chart is also about to feature returning Oasis hits, although their current highest entry at No.38 is Acquiesce – a track that has never actually charted before. It could now become a new streaming perennial after featuring early in the band’s tour setlist.
Don’t Look Back In Anger (No.40) and Wonderwall (No.41) are the other main chart contenders, although Live Forever is not far behind.
Official Charts Company rules limit primary artists to three tracks. Because these are catalogue tracks, Oasis’ chart result will be further constrained by the imposition of ACR, which requires double the amount of streams to register a single chart unit.
Music Week has access to the Combined Tracks Chart based on streams (without ACR imposed) and download sales, which shows that Oasis would actually have 14 of the Top 100 entries, according to the latest Midweeks. Don’t Look Back In Anger, Acquiesce, Wonderwall and Live Forever are currently in the Top 30.
There are also appearances in the Top 100 of the Combined Tracks Chart for Champagne Supernova, Supersonic, Slide Away, Morning Glory, Some Might Say, Half The World Away, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Roll With It, She’s Electric and Stand By Me.
Spotify has reported on the streaming increase for the band, whose 24.5 million monthly listeners in May has now increased to 25.7 million.
Following the tour launch, Spotify reported that streams for Oasis surged by 320% globally.
The increase was led by setlist opener Hello (up 1,115%), followed by Bring It On Down (up 1,000%), Fade Away (up 1,000%), Acquiesce (up 760%), Cigarettes & Alcohol (up 490%), Morning Glory (up 485%) and Some Might Say (up 480%).
