Lewis Capaldi backs TikTok wind-down feature with launch of Room To Reflect experience

Lewis Capaldi met fans during a surprise appearance in London’s Covent Garden to unveil TikTok’s ‘Room to Reflect’ immersive experience.

Developed in partnership with TikTok, the temporary sanctuary was launched in the capital to highlight the app’s wind-down feature designed to help young users switch off.

Capaldi, who gave a surprise Glastonbury performance at the weekend, is targeting No.1 with comeback single Survive.

Lewis Capaldi and TikTok collaborated to create the unique space in Covent Garden. The Room To Reflect provided a tranquil escape from the busy West End, inviting Londoners to pause and reflect with a guided wellness experience voiced by Capaldi himself.

The experience featured soft lighting and ambient sound, with Capaldi’s voice guiding each visitor through a short mindfulness session. Participants received a personalised video of their session, which included a link to the Survive sound on TikTok, encouraging fans to share their experience and Capaldi's new music with their followers.

Lisa Skeppner, music partnerships manager at TikTok, said: “It’s been amazing to see the TikTok community rally behind Lewis Capaldi’s return, not just to the stage, but hopefully straight back to the top of the charts. With today’s Room To Reflect we wanted to create a moment that encouraged people to pause and reset. The fact that Survive is now No.1 in the Midweeks is a testament to the power of that message and the love for Lewis on TikTok. Welcome back!"

Andy Knox, strategic commercial director for Lewis Capaldi (management), said: “In a world where so much time is now spent on phones and online, it’s great to have real life, physical moments that help bring people together. Seeing the fans come out in their droves to welcome Lewis back was heartwarming and I’m so glad that the TikTok team helped bring the idea to life and make it a reality. Massive shout out to Amelia Studios who produced the whole event too! Proper team effort.”

Lewis Capaldi added: "The booth is here for everyone to come down, share their stories, what they have been through and take a few moments to be calm, focus on themselves and their mental health.

“My new single Survive is all about coming through hard times, coming out the other end of it, and overcoming stuff. It's truly great to be back performing again – that's something I've missed massively – and I'm just so glad to be doing what I love.”

The Room To Reflect experience will now head to Berlin (July 7) and New York (July 10).

Capaldi played a TikTok LIVE session before heading to the Covent Garden event. The official Survive track has already been used in thousands of posts, with searches for Lewis Capaldi on TikTok having increased 892%, and with video views surpassing 236%, in the last week alone.

In March, TikTok announced the new wind-down feature, a way to encourage young people to switch off at night. If a teenager decides to use TikTok after 10pm, the For You feed will be interrupted by a guided meditation exercise.
